Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
Important: This policy explains how TimeForSalah may handle information. It is intended to be protective and transparent, but it is not legal advice. Privacy laws vary, so you should ask a qualified lawyer to review it for your location and obligations.
1. Overview
TimeForSalah is a community salah-time platform. We process information needed to run features such as accounts, selected masjids, prayer times, reminders, Qibla, timetable uploads, reviews, announcements, favourites, language settings, accessibility settings, support, moderation, security, and app improvement.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may process account details, email address, display name, role, masjid selections, favourites, prayer logs, timetable files, reviews, announcements, edit suggestions, reports, uploaded files, notification subscriptions, device identifiers, language, timezone, settings, location if allowed, support messages, technical logs, usage events, browser data, cookies, local storage, and similar data.
3. Public and community content
Masjid listings, timetables, announcements, reviews, ratings, public uploads, suggested edits, reports, and other contributions may be visible to users or used to improve public masjid information. Do not submit private, sensitive, confidential, or third-party personal information unless you have permission and a lawful basis.
4. How we use information
We may use information to provide and secure the app, authenticate users, remember preferences, show nearby masjids, calculate and display prayer times, send reminders, manage submissions, moderate content, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, improve reliability, respond to support requests, comply with law, enforce terms, and protect users, the community, and the project.
5. Location and device permissions
Location, Qibla, map, camera, file upload, and notification features depend on browser or device permissions. If you allow location access, it may be used to find nearby masjids, estimate Qibla direction, sort results, or improve the app experience. You can deny or revoke permissions in your browser or device settings, but some features may stop working.
6. Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we may store push subscription data, device identifiers, timezone, language, selected masjid, prayer preferences, and reminder offsets so reminders can be delivered. Notification delivery is not guaranteed and depends on browsers, operating systems, devices, network conditions, and third-party push services.
7. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, cache storage, service workers, device identifiers, and similar technologies to remember login state, selected masjid, guest identifiers, recent masjids, install prompt choices, language, theme, accessibility preferences, notification settings, and app performance data. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
8. Legal bases
Where required, we rely on legal bases such as providing the service, user consent, legitimate interests, security, fraud and abuse prevention, legal obligations, public/community contribution handling, and user-requested functionality.
9. Sharing and service providers
We may share information with providers needed to operate the app, including hosting, authentication, database, file storage, maps, APIs, analytics, push notifications, email, moderation, legal advisers, and authorities where required. We do not sell your personal information.
10. International processing
The app may be used globally, and information may be processed or stored in countries other than yours. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the app, you understand that international processing may occur where allowed by law.
11. Retention and deletion
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain records, secure the service, resolve disputes, comply with law, preserve community data, or protect the project. Public community contributions may remain visible after account changes unless removed at our discretion or required by law.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no software, network, storage, device, browser, or transmission is completely secure. You use the app at your own risk and should avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information.
13. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object, restrict, export, or withdraw consent. You can also change app settings, browser permissions, notification permissions, and local storage. To make a privacy request, contact us.
14. Children
The app is not intended for children where parental consent is required by applicable law. If you believe a child provided personal information without proper consent, contact us so we can review it.
